In 1967 a group of parents imagined having an independent school in Gastonia where children could experience excellence in academics, athletics and arts. They dreamed of a school that would provide a safe and nurturing environment and someday become the finest independent day school in the southeastern United States. That dream became Gaston Day School and everyone connected to it is indebted to our Founders for their vision, commitment, and dedication. Together, we can carry the vision of our Founders into the future. Working together we can succeed in making the possibilities we imagine for Gaston Day School become reality.
Appreciated Securities
When making a gift of appreciated securities, the donor gets a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stock and avoids capital gains tax on the increased value. Securities must be transferred to the School prior to the sale to receive these benefits. Call the Advancement Office for transmittal instructions.
Charitable Remainder Trusts
Assets are placed in a trust for Gaston Day School and generate annual income for the donor or family member for a fixed term or for life. The donor receives a current income tax deduction to a portion of the value of assets transferred to the trust.
Charitable Lead Trusts
The income generated from assets placed in trust is gifted to Gaston Day School for a period of years. The trust assets can be returned to the donor or transferred to heirs with little or no estate and gift taxes due.
Bequests Provisions for charitable gifts may also be made under the terms of the donor's will, leaving a lasting legacy. Insurance Policies There are many ways in which life insurance policies no longer needed for family protection may be used to make a contribution, all of which provide tax benefits.
