Gaston Day School, a college preparatory tradition since 1967, has maintained a reputation for excellence in liberal arts education.  As a proud alumnus of Gaston Day, I know firsthand the value of an exceptional, independent school environment. We feel, quite simply, Gaston Day School is the finest independent school in the Southeastern United States.

Our Lower School students learn to read, write, solve, compute, and think in the challenging and nurturing setting of an independent school. And, they are taught how to be kind to one another. Under the guidance of attentive teachers, they express themselves creatively through mediums of music, voice, art, and drama. It is through this exploration that children experience the joy of learning. Parents, too, are an integral part of our school community. Children thrive within the carefully constructed atmosphere designed for their particular developmental stages. Experiential learning is the cornerstone of the Lower School philosophy.

Our Middle School students make the transition from teacher directed discovery to independent learning. They are introduced to subjects that spark their imagination in sciences and mathematics, literature, history, foreign language, and the arts.  Character education unites students and promotes an atmosphere of integrity, responsibility, and an appreciation for diversity. Not only does Gaston Day offer an outstanding academic foundation but also promotes a variety of athletic and social opportunities. Whether dressing up for a semi-formal winter dance or donning blue and white to cheer on their Spartans, students engage themselves in our close knit school community.

Our Upper School students receive an extraordinary preparation for college. A leading and diverse curriculum directs students on their journey as they become lifelong learners. Highly motivated students have the opportunity to enroll in rigorous Advanced Placement courses taught by College Board certified teachers. Our committed college placement counselor ensures each student will receive one-on-one attention. Students select a faculty advisor with whom they enjoy a close and supportive relationship to guide them through each exciting phase of their high school experience.  Gaston Day is governed by an Honor Code that is at the forefront of all we do. It is more than a code of behavior; it is the creed by which we live. Our students take responsibility for their actions and the actions of their peers. Students enjoy the freedom to discover their individual athletic, intellectual, and artistic passions. Leadership roles are embraced at Gaston Day through an active student government, peer mentor program, and community service.

Thank you for visiting our website. On behalf of the entire Gaston Day community, I invite you to visit our campus and see for yourself how Gaston Day is the right place for your child.
